All of our BCYSA Recreational Coaches are volunteers!
Every season, several dozen individuals step up to coach a rec soccer team.
We could not operate without them.
Thank you for all the hard work and the ongoing commitment to our children!
Each team is allowed to have as many as three coaches.
All coaches are guaranteed to have their kids on their team, as long as they fall into the applicable age group and if you sign up prior to team formation.
If you are interested in helping out, please let your team's head coach know, or contact the league by email to [email protected].
If you are not a coach, leave coaching to the coaches, please.
Especially during the games!
Coaches have the freedom to choose the practice location and practice times.
We recommend to have at least two practices per week. Each practice should run about 1 to 2 hours max.
Before the start of each season, we hold a coaches meeting, usually on a Saturday morning, two weeks before the first game day.
At this meeting, coaches receive the team roster, the game schedule and the newest information, such as changes to rules.
All coaches must sign a Coaches Code of Conduct and must take an online class on Concussions.
Concussions are a tricky thing to detect and we encourage coaches to act on the safe side.
IF IN DOUBT, SIT THEM OUT!
We ask parents to respect that.
The class is free and is open to all. Parents and players are encouraged to educate themselves and take 30 minutes to go through the class.
